Discussion Questions

Don’t be afraid to add to this list, skip questions that don’t work for your group, or branch off with additional questions as discussion unfolds. Conversation is key! This is the time to work through the application of scripture and have group members figure things out together.

1. Where have you seen the biggest need for Jesus in this nation? What are tangible ways that we, as believers, can have an impact in these areas?
2. Read Judges 21:25. How can you filter out the difference between doing what is right in your own eyes and following the Holy Spirit as you seek the Lord’s will in your life?
3. There’s no denying that our nation and the world around us—on a macro level—have turned away from God. Pastor Harrell mentioned that God didn’t put us here to be thermometers for our culture, but rather thermostats purposed to have an influence. How can we each combat the condition of our world by spreading the light of Jesus that’s in us versus cursing the world around us?
4. God told the Hebrews to completely drive out the Canaanites from the promised land, but instead, they defied His command and made them their slaves. In turn, the Hebrews suffered severe consequences for not fully obeying. Do you ever find yourself “half” following God’s commands or making justifications for not following through 100%? Have you ever suffered consequences because of it? Why is it so crucial to do what God says even when we don’t understand?
5. Read Judges 2:10 and Proverbs 22:6. Why is it imperative to invest in your children and point them to the Lord? How do you instill godly wisdom in your children, and what are you doing to train them up to follow fervently after God? What changes do you need to make today?
6. As a group, how can you pray for the Malawi missions team? Write down a list of specific prayer requests and commit to praying them daily while the team is on their trip.
