It’s not always these big moments… sometimes, it’s these subtle, small opportunities and small places that we can be bold for God and trust that he is working and weaving all things for his good and his purposes!
During our prayer challenge—like many others—I’ve been praying for opportunities to be bold.
Just a few weeks ago, my wife and I were at a grocery store, and we ran into a gentleman that I recognized from the gym that I go to. We spent a few minutes talking and then moved on. But the very next day, he was working out next to my buddy and me. In between sets, I was praying for an opportunity. And before we left, this gentleman said, “Hey, it was great to run into you last night and to meet your wife.”
He asked me if I’d seen a particular movie, I hadn’t. But he followed that up by asking me if I’d ever seen the Passion of the Christ. He honed in on the parts where Jesus had been beaten and crucified. And that opened a door to talk about that for a little bit.
After a few moments, he said, “Well, I need to let you know I don’t believe what you believe.” And I said, “That's okay. I understand. But it was just great to have a discussion with you about it.”
As we were leaving the gym that day, I was grateful for the opportunity to maybe plant a seed for a future conversation, whether that be myself or someone else.
Reflecting on that day, I’m just reminded that it’s not always these big moments. That sometimes, it’s these subtle, small opportunities and small places that we can be bold for God and trust that he is working and weaving all things for his good and his purposes!
