Values & Beliefs

Friends greeting each other outside

Our Values

We believe the Bible is inspired (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21), inerrant (John 17:17; Hebrews 6:18) and infallible (Hebrews 6:18), which means we believe God’s Word is authoritative (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16).

God’s Word is what drives all that we do, including our values. Over time our methods and strategies might change… but our values never will!

Identity in Christ

Our identity and worth are in Jesus alone. This means He has moved us from death to life and has made us new (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:1-20) It is God alone who sustains our identity to give us increasing victory over the power of sin.

Reaching others with the Gospel

We’ve been commissioned, called, and commanded to be unashamed of the Gospel and reach others with the Good News of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8, Romans 1:16, Romans 10:14-15

Both individually and collectively, we play a part in advancing God’s kingdom locally, regionally, and globally. Individually, we build relationships that earn the right to share the Gospel with those in our circle of influence. Collectively, we leverage local, regional, and global mission opportunities to share the name of Jesus. We believe…

Authentic Community

We believe God wants us to live in authentic community. Living biblically, we choose to connect with others by…

  • Gathering together on Sunday mornings (Hebrews 10:24–25)
  • Engaging in ministries at Northwest
  • Doing life together in Small Groups that meet in homes throughout the week (Acts 2:40–47)

Intimacy with God

We believe, as believers, we can come confidently into His presence (Ephesians 3:12; Hebrews 4:16) and that God wants us to experience a continually growing, deepening relationship with Jesus (Ephesians 4:15). God made this possible by sending His Son to die for us so that we could have a relationship with Him instead of following a set of prescribed mechanical rules. Two primary ways we relationally engage with God is through…

  1. Reading the Bible
  2. Prayer

Serving Others

We believe that we play an active role in God’s redemption story. We are not created who, where, and when we are by accident. God has wired (Romans 12:4–8) each of us for meaningful investment in the local church, which requires us to step up and take part, using our time, talents, and treasure for the Kingdom.

What we believe

At Northwest Bible Church, we worship God as the sole Creator and Ruler of the universe, preach and teach the Bible, call people to follow Jesus and to find the incredible freedom of surrendering every aspect of their lives completely to Him.

Through the intimacy of our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we are loved…forgiven…redeemed…renewed…and transformed. We love to share this faith and hope with our community and the whole world!

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords!

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

About the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, and is therefore the truth of God without any mixture of error. It was inspired in the original manuscripts, and then, preserved by God’s divine providence.

About Human Beings

Man is the supreme object of God’s creation. He was created by God in complete innocence in a perfect environment, but of his own free will, chose to sin against God. The result of Adam’s sin is not only physical death and spiritual death (separation from God for eternity) for all mankind, but the fall also endowed upon all mankind a sinful nature. Therefore, all people are sinners, not only by constraint, but by choice, and are unable to regain their former position of innocence, and are under just condemnation without defense or excuse before God.

About Salvation

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

About Eternal Security

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort or human works of the Christian. Our security rests solely upon the grace and keeping power of God.

About Eternity

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
