Don’t be afraid to add to this list, skip questions that don’t work for your group, or branch off with additional questions as discussion unfolds. Conversation is key! This is the time to work through the application of scripture and have group members figure things out together.
- If you were to categorize yourself into one of the following groups, would you say you are? What can you do today to become someone whose main focus is to bring the gospel message to those whose souls are lost?
- A person who is lost and without hope?
- A roadblock?
- A critical person?
- Someone who cares?
- Read Matthew 24:35. It’s very possible that our great-great-grandkids may not even know our names. How does this sobering thought and the above verse encourage you to focus on sharing God’s Word and the gospel with as many people as possible?
- Jesus had compassion for those who were hurting and lost. Sometimes, we are so busy that we don’t have time, or we don’t notice those around us who need our compassion. What does sincere biblical compassion look like? Read 1 Peter 4:10, Galatians 6:2, and 1 John 3:17. How can we make sure that we don’t miss those around us who need our help, concern, and love?
- Do you have a band of others around you? If your answer is yes, who are you and your “band” reaching out to right now? If your answer is no, why not? And what can you do to develop godly friendships with the ultimate goal of seeing others saved?
- Read John 14:26, 2 Corinthians 3:5, Proverbs 3:26, and Hebrews 13:6. Where should our confidence come from? What is the difference between godly confidence and worldly self-assurance? If you don’t have confidence, how should these verses ease your concern and give you strength?
- Have you ever known someone you would describe as truly selfless? What characteristics did that person possess? What does Philippians 2:3–4 tell us about how to live a selfless life?
- Read James 2:18, James 2:26, and Ephesians 2:8–9. The above verses may seem like apparent contradictions; however, God’s Word does not contradict itself… ever! How do these verses speak to the relationship between faith and works? At that same point, how does Ephesians 2:8–9 remove the role of works as it relates to our salvation?
