Jody Young

Preschool Director

Jody stepped into the role of Preschool Director at Northwest at the beginning of 2022, after serving in preschool classes on Sunday mornings for five years.

She loves being with young children and helping them learn, discover and make connections. She finds joy in creating weekly differentiated activities geared to capture the interests of all the preschool children as well as assisting our amazing volunteers in pointing to Jesus as they teach through the Bible.

Jody loves that the people here at Northwest are so authentic and open and that the whole Bible—as the authoritative word of God—is taught and the truth is not compromised.

In addition to her role here, Jody is also a full-time Kindergarten teacher, a sister, and an aunt to two nieces and two nephews. A little fun fact, in between stretches of teaching, she worked at and eventually became the manager of a VW/Audi car repair shop. Which makes her the go-to person at her school when anybody has car questions.

Hobbies

  • Reading. Though I love traditional books, I think the Kindle is one of the greatest inventions ever. My whole library travels everywhere with me.
  • Listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
  • Cozy coffee shops where I can read and write and be introspective with God about my life.
  • My favorite place to go is Mid-Coast/Downeast Maine. I especially like hiking through Acadia National Park and relaxing on granite rocks and cliffs at the ocean’s edge.
