When God Says “Go”

Matt Hamer

Children’s Pastor

God has a mission for each of us. But we can allow our doubt and fear to get in the way of His mission being accomplished through us. We’ll look at the life of Gideon to see how when God says “go,” He gives us everything we need.

Discussion Questions

Don’t be afraid to add to this list, skip questions that don’t work for your group, or branch off with additional questions as discussion unfolds. Conversation is key! This is the time to work through the application of scripture and have group members figure things out together.

  1. God’s “go” doesn’t always include the details or an explanation. Why is this?
  2. When is the last time God told you to “go”? How did you respond?
  3. Do you have any idols that need to be torn down in your life?
  4. What is your fear with either “going” as God has called you, or tearing down an idol, the Holy Spirit has revealed to you?
  5. Read Judges 6:13–40. When Gideon questioned God’s goodness and faithfulness, God met him where he was at. He showed Gideon patience and gave him protection and proof. Has there been a time in your life that you’ve questioned God and He’s given you proof? How did God surpass your expectations? What does this reveal about God’s character? Please share with the group.
  6. How did God strengthen Gideon? (Judges 7:1–25) How is God currently strengthening you personally?
  7. Pastor Matt described how God’s “go” in your life always includes His presence, power, and provision. How does this impact or change your perspective on being obedient to what God has called you to do?
