“They” Crucified Him

Ken Harrell
Senior Pastor
When we answer the question of how Jesus died, one common reply is “they crucified Him.”
They… the religious leaders, the political leaders, His enemies. But while that answer is true, the fact is it goes so much deeper than that. And when we go deeper the answer gets personal.
When we say “‘They’ Crucified Him”, we need to stop and remind ourselves of who is included in that word “they”.

Discussion Questions
Don’t be afraid to add to this list, skip questions that don’t work for your group, or branch off with additional questions as discussion unfolds. Conversation is key! This is the time to work through the application of scripture and have group members figure things out together.
- We learned that many were responsible for putting Jesus on the cross to die. Knowing that we ourselves are responsible, how does this influence the way that you view your own sin? Does it spur on any change in your life?
- Knowing that God loves you so much as to send His own beloved son to the cross in your place, does this change your perspective of the depth of God’s love for you? When you question God’s love, how can this fact remind you of the truth?
- How do you think Jesus’ response to being unfairly accused of wrongdoing would be different from our typical reaction? How does seeing His response help you prepare for similar circumstances?
- Jesus died a sacrificial death (Hebrews 9:26; Isaiah 53:6) and our sin necessitated His death. How does this Truth change your view of the events of Good Friday and the death of Jesus?
- God loves us and wants us to spend eternity with Him ([John 3:16](https://my.bible.com/bible/114/JHN.3.16)). Can you say, with confidence, where you will spend eternity? If not, discuss with your Life Group about what is preventing you from accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and living in surrender to Him.
- Knowing Christ died a sacrificial death for you, are you sharing that good news with others? Discuss a time when you did that and how we glorify God by sharing His good news of salvation.
Accountability
- Where are you reading in the Bible this week and what is God revealing to you?
- Discuss any struggles you may be going through with your group.
- How can you be praying for your group this week? How can they be praying for you?
