News From Jared Murlin – March 2017

Posted on April 6, 2017 by Murlin

“Would you want to get together with us when we study the Bible?”

AJ and Greg, two freshmen guys from Baldwin Wallace came up to me after one of our weekly meetings and invited me to join them the next time that they were going to study the Bible. Coming into this semester, the two of them decided that they wanted to prioritize spending time in the Word and they have met in the dorm common room every day to make it happen.

AJ, a quarterback on the football team, came to Baldwin Wallace from Florida. Greg, a center on the football team, came to Baldwin Wallace from New York. Both of them grew up in Christian homes and have taken the initiative to grow in their walks with God while in college. They have even used their influence on the football team to have spiritual conversations and invite other players to come to Cru.

I have had the opportunity to join them as they study the Bible every Tuesday. It has been a lot of fun to invest time into these two men who are so eager to learn about the Bible. We have explored all sorts of topics: from theology to history to ethics to Bible Study methods to gender and sexuality. They come with all sorts of questions and I do my best to respond and point them to what the Bible has to say.

I am excited to see what kind of impact AJ and Greg will have on Baldwin Wallace’s campus over the next few years. Please join me in praying that they would continue to treasure Jesus, grow in their walks with Him and have an impact in lives of other students.

Getting ready for next year

With only four weeks left in this semester, our attention is beginning to look into the Fall of next school year. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be meeting with students to challenge them to take on roles of leadership and service to help reach the incoming Freshmen class. It is an exciting time for me to meet with students and encourage them. I think that we all need times in our lives when someone sits us down and speaks some belief into our lives and challenges us to step up to a big opportunity. I get to invite students to take part in an effort to change people’s eternal destinies. That is no small thing!

Would you please be praying for me that I would challenge students well and speak vision and encouragement into their lives? Would you please pray for the students who are challenged, that they would want to reach students with the Gospel in the Fall and have an impact on their campus?

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. The Lord has provided abundantly for my needs over the past few months, to the point that I will not have to raise any additional funds for my trip to Croatia. Thank you for your generosity. Please join me in thanking God for His providence in my life and for this ministry!
