News From Jared Murlin – June & July 2017

Posted on July 14, 2017 by Murlin

As I boarded the plane for my fourth trip to Split, Croatia, I could not help but be grateful for the unique privilege and a blessing that I have had to be a part of what God is doing halfway around the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to give leadership to a group of 25 students and staff who stepped out in faith to take the Gospel to Split. It was exciting to take seven Cleveland students with me to the world. God has faithfully raised up laborers from Cleveland and sent them into the world to reach more people with the Gospel! Collectively, our group engaged in 368 spiritual conversations with Croatian students as we came aside the growing Cru ministry in Split.

As one of the leaders of the trip, my main role was investing in the spiritual growth of the students on the trip. In addition to giving several talks and leading Bible studies, I had the chance to mentor two of the men, Tony and John.

Tony (pictured below, in blue) grew up in Christian home and has taken his faith seriously for most of his life, but he only recently began taking the initiative to help others grow in their faith. As a natural introvert, Tony wanted to step out in faith as a more vocal leader, both within our group and among the Croatians to whom he ministered. God used Tony as a pace setter in pursuing the Lord and in sharing the Gospel. When others were tiring out of initiating spiritual conversations, Tony persisted. Tony also made a plan for reaching out to specific people when he returned home both to encourage people in their faith and with whom to share the Gospel.

John (pictured above, in teal and white) is one of those guys that draws you in to listening to him when he talks. A talented musician, John majored in chemical engineering for the financial stability that the career promises. Nearing graduation, John was convicted that he was using his talents for his own glory instead of Jesus’ glory. John viewed this summer as a chance to realign his desires for his life with God’s desires for his life. God honored John’s obedience and gave him a greater vision for using his degree and his talents to impact the Kingdom back home, both in sharing the gospel and in investing in his local church body.

Thank you for your faithful investment in me and my ministry. I am humbled that God continues to use our partnership to impact both Cleveland and Croatia. Please pray for these students and for the Cleveland ministry as we ramp up for the Fall!
