Fresh Food for Hilliard Families
Our church was recently made aware of a program started by the USDA, Farmers to Families, that purchases agricultural products from farmers and distributes them to those in need. Fresh produce, dairy, and meats… all items that are not always easy to come by for these families.
This past Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Northwest served as a distribution location here in Hilliard. As Hilliard-area families arrived, our volunteers greeted them and loaded boxes of fresh food into their cars.
Then, we delivered the remaining food items to our friends at the Hilliard Food Pantry, and that’s where not only were we able to bless them with the supplies, but we in turn received a blessing. Our volunteers were told that the Food Pantry had been scrambling to find additional food, and the fact that our church showed up with food, as well as milk—which is in very high demand—met a huge need. God knew exactly what was needed, at exactly the right time.
“…‘for I was hungry and you gave Me food’… Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You?’… And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” —Matthew 25:35–40
This Tuesday, December 15, we’ll be doing the same thing. Local families in need will have the opportunity to receive fresh food, and the remainder will be delivered to an Assisted Living center in Hilliard, as well as to the Hilliard Food Pantry.
We are thrilled that God has provided us this opportunity to serve Him in this very practical way as we serve those in need in our own community.

We included a card for each family… from our church family!

As someone would pull up, our volunteers would ask if there was anything we could pray with them about while we loaded their food.

The Famers to Families food boxes included potatoes, celery, hard-boiled eggs, sour cream, cheese, cottage cheese, chicken meatballs, and a gallon of milk.

Between cars, our volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to chat and laugh together!
