Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL)
Learn the basics of ASL (American Sign Language) to communicate with anyone in your life who is deaf, including those in our church family! The class will be led by Jordyn Sabin—who you’ve probably seen interpreting on Sunday mornings—along with John and Marsha Moore, in the Round Room on Sunday, May 1, from 4–6:30pm.
We’ll begin with the alphabet in fingerspelling, then the basic signs such as hello, how are you, fine, good, thank you, please, asking someone their name, etc. Then we’ll move on to cover Christian signs such as Jesus, God, love, and Bible.
In the summer, we plan to offer a second class that will build on the first class, going into deeper context about ASL through storytelling, and helping you become more conversational in your signing.
