God. Who He is…and why it matters.
Boasting comes naturally to us. We boast about stuff we know… people we know… what we have… what we’ve done.
And our God knows that we’re going to be tempted to do this, so He had the prophet Jeremiah write these words:
This is what the Lord says: “The wise person should not boast in his wisdom; the strong should not boast in his strength; the wealthy should not boast in his wealth. But the one who boasts should boast in this: that he understands and knows ME—that I Am the Lord… —Jeremiah 9:23–24
But the only way we’re ever going to be able to boast about our God is if we know Him.
Really know Him.
The kind of knowing that is way beyond just facts and information. It’s the kind of knowing that experiences God. It’s a personal knowledge that God wants us to have because He knows that when we get to know Him on this level, we’ll never be the same.
So that’s what we’re going to do in this series. We’re going to the one Book where every word in it tells us about our God. We’re going to the Bible to find out Who our God is… and why this needs to matter to each and every one of us.
