Sunday, March 6, after the morning service, we will be selecting three biblically qualified men to serve in our Board of Directors and as Deacons.
Mike Lewis – Board of Directors
What college did you attend? Cedarville University
When did you join Northwest? 1999
What is your ministry here? I teach in the Preschool Ministry and help count the offering.
What is your favorite scripture? Proverbs 3:5–6… “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
What do you like about Northwest? The commitment to stay true to God’s Word and preach that truth, opportunities to serve God, children’s ministry that teaches my kids what God says, the chance to be a part of sharing the gospel and meeting people’s needs locally and across the world.
When did you accept Christ? My dad led me to Christ when I was nine. My parents told me that I had prayed a prayer when I was very young, but I did not remember it, and I wanted to be sure of my salvation. My dad and I had taken a trip to upstate New York to visit my grandparents, and we were on our way back home to Michigan when we started talking about God and salvation. I decided I wanted to pray to know that Jesus was my Savior, so my dad pulled his truck over to the side of the road, and I accepted Christ into my life.
Family: Kristen and I have been married for 15 years. We met at Northwest Bible Church in the singles/young adults group and were married by Pastor Harrell at the church. We have a 12-year-old daughter Kate, and an 8-year-old son Jack.
Eric Dietry – Deacon
What college did you attend? Malone University for Undergrad and Cedarville University for my Master’s
When did you join Northwest? I started attending Northwest in 2002 and became a member in 2004
What is your favorite scripture? I have several favorite Bible verses. Here are two…
- John 3:30… He must increase, but I must decrease.
- Psalm 115:1… Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.
What do you like about Northwest? At Northwest, every Sunday the Bible is opened, the Word of God is preached and is rightly divided. The Gospel is clearly presented to both kids and adults, and lives are being changed.
When did you accept Christ? I accepted Christ when I was 14. I didn’t have anyone to come alongside me to disciple me so I didn’t grow in my faith. When I went to college I met many friends that were on fire for God. I grew through chapel services, professors teaching classes from a Biblical perspective, and getting into the Word of God. At a Bible conference, I rededicated my life to Christ.
Family: Karen and I have been married for 17 years this summer (2022). We have three children, Jason who is 14 and in 8th grade, McKenna who is 11 and in 5th grade, and Carter who is 8 and in 3rd grade.
Dean Gardner – Deacon
What college did you attend? The Ohio State University (Industrial Design)
When did you join Northwest? We started attending in 2015 and became members in 2016
What is your favorite scripture?
- Romans 5:8… But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
- Provers 13:20… He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.
What do you like about Northwest? Northwest teaches the true biblical gospel message of salvation, not watered down. Northwest is where myself, my wife, and two kids all came to be saved by acknowledging our sin and need for a savior, accepting Christ into our hearts, and desiring a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The message and assurance of salvation is available to all who accept it, and is promoted weekly through the wonderful ministries offered here (VBS, Kid City, Sunday Worship, Life Groups, Mission Trips to Malawi, etc.).
When did you accept Christ? I accepted Christ in the fall of 2015 at Northwest. I prayed at the end of a Sunday service. I was waiting for thunder rumbles and the sky opening to verify it when I prayed, but obviously, that did not happen. The devil caused me to initially doubt my salvation assurance, but I now know that when I sincerely prayed to Christ and gave my life to Him that I am a child of God. Praise God!
Family: I’ve been married to my best friend Erica for 18 years. We have two wonderful kids, Noah who is 13, and Ruby who is 8. All are miracles and blessings from God.
